Why Racewalk and Not Run?

 

Less Chance of Injury

    Many folks cannot run five miles without destroying their knees. With running, every step is like crash landing without a parachute. The runner is airborne and must use leg power to brace each return to the planet.

Scenery

    Racewalking provides more of a chance to see the scenery. Runners go too fast. If they blink, they might miss Kuna, Idaho.

Those Muscle Groups

    Racewalkers use more muscle groups than runners. They must coordinate the torso, ankles, back, and shins more than runners. Racewalkers do not enter bodybuilding competitions because automatic victories are no fun. The webmaster, however, still gets sand kicked in his face.

Fear

    Walkers have less fear of heart attacks and strokes but more fear of runners attacking them for          passing.

Intelligence

    With the exception of the webmaster, racewalkers are six squared to the fourth power more intelligent than runners. This is because the walkers must be very knowledgeable about racewalking technique. Though runners have to train a lot, their technique is not as important as in racewalking.

Fun

    The Sawtooth Relay every year is a cruel and unusual drudgery for walkers. Each walker is forced out of unconsciousness and dragged to the road. In spite of vehement protests, each walker limps six miles up dangerous roads filled with bears, comments about Grey Poupon, and loud, obnoxious whistles.  Runners discuss regular mustard rather than Grey Poupon.
