Vincent van Gogh

Portrait of Anna

(Vincent's sister)

Oil on old artist panel board.

This is a very early work by Vincent, a portrait of Vincent's sister at the age of 7, Anna Cornelia van Gogh (1855-1930).

Vincent was 10 years old when he painted this portrait and as you can see, it was Vincent's stile to make his models look older than they were at the time of the application. In this way, he made his recipients rather un-appreciative and showing their apprehensiveness towards the finished work of art. This in turn caused Vincent himself to destroy a lot of his own art work himself, and sometimes, right in front of his veiwers eyes. If you go to the enhanced photo of ANNA Gogh, all through the front of her dress from shoulder to shoulder, you might be able to see exactly what I have type in my supposed typo, and don't forget to check out pages 2,3,4,&5 below.
